How to accomplish the chartered boat?
In order accomplish the chartered boat you have to deposit an advance of 50% of the total account to the company’s bank account after the confirmation of the fare (via e-mail or fax) along with the charter party signed.
The payment is deposited at the signing of the charter party through a bank account or by a credit card.
The rest 50% is paid one month before the departure by the boat, through a bank account or with a credit card (MasterCard or Visa) at the company’s bank account.
In the case of a chartered bareboat (without a skipper-captain) a refundable security deposit should be paid on your boarding day at the time of your board by the charterer’s credit card . This refundable security deposit will be returned to the charterer once the boat will be given back without any losses or damages.
If you charter a boat with a skipper-captain, you won’t need to pay the refundable security amount (in some cases the security deposit is mandatory to be paid and recorded in every boat separately). The skipper – captain is responsible for the boat.
The charterer’s additional charges are to pay the skipper – captain, fuel, port charges, the passage of a canal and other additional charges required.
What are the qualifications required for bareboat sailing yacht charters in Greece ?
The qualifications required (by the Greek port authorities) to charter a bareboat sailing yacht in Greece are at least for one crewmember (skipper) to have a sailing certificate proving his/ her competence (necessary) and a crewmember (co-skipper) with adequate sailing experience (optional). This certificate can be issued by sailing clubs and sailing schools.
The license of the skipper can be exceptionally replaced by a self-declaration form since in several countries no certificates are compulsory. In this case, the skipper declares that he/ she has sailing experience as well as he/ she will be liable of the yacht and crew. The sailor’s sailing resume will facilitate our company to assess his/ her ability to sail in safety.
When do I need to hire a professional skipper/hostess ?
A local skipper is necessary if you do not fulfill the above bareboat criteria. Still, it is common for people to hire a local skipper just because they want to avoid all “captain’s duties” and enjoy carefree vacations or because they need a skipper/ guide to disclose hidden places and local customs. It is a daily fee for the skipper (contact us). The skipper is usually sleeping in his own cabin, as his main job is to navigate, moor and look after the yacht and the crew giving priority to safety.
Cancellation or Premature Termination ?
In the event of cancellation of the charter by the charterer, for any reason, after signing this agreement, all advance payments made up to the date of cancellation will be retained by the owner, and the owner reserves the right to refund the said deposits only if he succeeds in letting the yacht to another charterer for the same period and under the same conditions. In the event that the charterer should elect to terminate the charter and deliver the yacht prior to the date designated in this agreement, the owner shall not be liable to the return of any proportional part of the hire money.
